Probably everybody knows that winter days can affect our skin. The difference between the cold temperatures outside and warm temperatures inside our homes leads to dehydration. This happens to all skin types. So appropriate skincare on winter days is very important!

What’s happening to our skin during winter days?

Differences between the inside and outside temperatures, wind, and heating in the homes (that reduces air humidity) all lead to dehydration. The circulation in the skin is naturally reduced because we have constriction in our blood vessels on cold days. The result of this is we lose the protective layers of the skin and it leads to redness, irritation, itching, desquamation, and sensitivity. Symptoms can be even more expressed if you have dry and sensitive skin.

Tips for skincare on winter days?

The answer is simple. We need to hydrate our skin and repair our sebum layer. That’s why skincare on winter days is very important!

So first, find some skin products that contain hyaluronic acid, urea, or lactate. These ingredients moisturize your skin, especially if you use them on damp skin.

Use creams and body milk with ceramides so you can put back the lipid layer on your skin. Find some products that contain squalane or wheat germ oil. They are good emollients. You can also use natural oils like olive, jojoba, or coconut oil.

There is always a good reason to avoid aggressive soaps, shampoos, and body gels because they can harm your skin. If you have really dry skin use all these ingredients in some thicker creams or body butter.

Wash your hands and face with lukewarm water because hot water can dehydrate even more your skin.

Always drink enough water because the best hydration comes from the inside. Eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. Vitamin D, C, A, K, or B vitamin complex are also very good for the skin.

The last tip for you is to always use SPF products on your skin. Use it every day! Skincare on winter days or any other season should have this step.

These are some essentials for skincare on winter days and they really are important. Skin is the largest organ in our body and it’s our defender from many external influences. Keep it healthy from the inside and outside.
